Jennifer McCarthy Pulls Gun From Vagina After Dispute Over Space Aliens: Cops

The ex-wife of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Cormac McCarthy was arrested Saturday after allegedly whipping a gun out of her vagina and threatening her boyfriend.

Jennifer McCarthy, 48, got into an argument with her 53-year-old lover about space aliens, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by The Smoking Gun. McCarthy left her Santa Fe residence, then came back and changed into lingerie. The outfit was accessorized by a silver handgun placed in her vagina, with which she began to have "inner course," [sic] according to the affidavit.

While cleaning the chamber, McCarthy reportedly posed the question, "Who is crazy, you or me?" before pulling out the gun and pointing it at her boyfriend's head, the Albuquerque Journal reported. The boyfriend told deputies he wrested the weapon away from her and put it first in the toilet, then the trash can.

Gawker's Tom Scocca was inspired to write a comedic take on the incident in the style of Cormac McCarthy.

She was in the doorway. She had stripped in there and dressed her body for the boudoir, soft ladyclothes baring flesh and something more, down at the forking of her legs. Hard nickelplate steel, the Smith & Wesson. Her hand was on it.
Whos crazy."

McCarthy was charged with aggravated assault on a household member.

Her LinkedIn profile describes her as an artist.

The Incredible Story of the Plane Crash Selfie

At first glance you might only notice the bright orange life vest the man in the photo is wearing, floating in the water. But after a moment, the image in the background becomes obvious — the tail of what appears to be a sinking airplane.

It's exactly what it looks like: a selfie by a plane crash survivor in the immediate aftermath of the accident.

Ferdinand Puentes, along with eight other passengers and a pilot, was on a routine tour flight run by Makani Kai Air on Dec. 11, according to the Honolulu Star Advertiser. Shortly after taking off from Kalaupapa Airport, passengers described a bang and subsequent engine failure. The pilot, Clyde Kawasaki, glided the plane onto the water and instructed the passengers to don life jackets, according to local news reports.

The Coast Guard reached the passengers after about 80 minutes, according to a preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board. The plane sank after about 25 minutes.

One passenger, Loretta Fuddy, director of the Hawaii Department of Health, died in the water after the crash. Officials are still trying to determine the cause of death.

Puentes posted the photo on his Facebook page on Dec. 31. He told khon2 that the pilot gave him a seat cushion to use as an extra flotation device. "Steel-toed boots, heavy work jeans, and long sleeve shirt. It was hard and exhausting to swim with all that," he said.

A dive team was eventually able to recover the company's Cessna 208 Caravan, a single-engine turboprop plane, from the Pacific Ocean. The engine will be shipped to the manufacturer for analysis.

Puentes, for his part, also told the local news station of the ordeal: "A lot of things seem petty now. Can't take things for granted."

Box Office : 'Lone Survivor,' 'Wolf of Wall Street' Spark Red State vs. Blue State Battle.

Lone Survivor 'Wolf of Wall Street' Spark Red State vs. Blue State Battle.

Paramount Pictures; Universal

UPDATED : The Navy SEALs battle is doing big business in America's heartland as it expands nationwide and could earn a stellar $28 million to $30 million for the weekend; "August: Osage County" is beating "Her" and big-budget epic "Hercules."

The North American box office is turning into a red state vs. blue state battle, with Thursday box office results showing Peter Berg's war drama Lone Survivor in a socio-economic split with MartinScorsese's holdover The Wolf of Wall Street.

The two films ended the day in a near dead-heat, with Lone Survivor narrowly prevailing. The patriotic-themed film is doing so well that box office now insiders now believe it could earn $28 million to $30 million for the weekend, far more than expected and easily enough to topple Frozen, The Wolf of Wall Street and other films.

Expanding nationwide at 8 p.m. after playing exclusively in New York and Los Angeles since Christmas, Lone Survivor's top theaters are in states including Texas, Utah, Colorado, Georgia, Utah, Nevada and Virginia. (It's also doing well in San Diego, a military town.) Universal is releasing Lone Survivor in North America and in select foreign markets.

Lone Survivor took in $1.54 million Thursday to top the box office chart, compared to $1.46 million for The Wolf of Wall Street, which continues to see its biggest returns on the two coasts, as well as in Canada. (Not one of Wolf's top 20 theaters on Thursday were in America's heartland.)

Scorsese's film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as bad boy Wall Street broker and con-man JordanBelfort. The R-rated film -- earning a strong $69.6 million to date -- has sparked widespread debate and controversy for its nonstop hedonism, drugs and sex.

If Lone Survivor  grosses north of $20 million for the weekend as predicted, it will be No. 1 ahead ofFrozen, The Wolf of Wall Street and other players. Based on Marcus Luttrell's memoir, the film starsMark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch and Ben Foster as four Navy SEALs on a mission in Afghanistan. Lone Survivor did well in its awards-qualifying run in New York and Los Angeles, but box office observers expect the film to see its strongest traffic in red states.

Lone Survivor was independently financed for north of $40 million.
Also expanding nationwide on Friday are John Wells' August: Osage County, starring Meryl Streepand Julia Roberts, and Spike Jonze's Her, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson. So far, Osage County is pacing ahead of Her even though it is in fewer theaters (905 versus 1,729).
The big loser of the weekend looks to be Millennium Films' The Legend of Hercules, distributed in the U.S. by Summit Entertainment. The epic may have trouble clearing $9 million or $10 million in its domestic debut, despite a $70 million production budget.
